Now that you have completed IST211 Ethics and IT Governance, reflect on the information presented in the course. As you think about the objectives of IT governance and the ethical implications of information technology, consider your current workplace or an organization in which you would like to work.
- If you are currently employed, discuss the role of IT governance in your current workplace. Does it exist? Is it strictly adhered to? Is its purpose well communicated throughout the organization? How would you personally increase awareness of the objectives of IT governance? If you were given the opportunity to implement an IT governance framework, which framework would you choose and why?
- If you are not currently employed or you choose to discuss another organization, imagine that you have been hired as the chief information officer (CIO). Discuss the organization and select a framework that suits the organization best, explaining what facets of the framework led you to choose it. What strategy would you employ to ensure that the rest of your organization was on board with your selected framework?
By Sunday, May 22, 2016, post your response to the appropriate Discussion Area. Through Wednesday, May 25, 2016, review and comment on at least two of your classmates’ responses. Consider the following in your response:
- Provide a statement of clarification or a point of view with rationale.
- Challenge a point of discussion or draw a relationship between one or more points of the discussion.
