1- Every company has a unique way of operation but at the end of the day there is the need to ensure employee satisfaction. The procedures and the processes to be followed in maintaining employee happiness maybe different but the need of the employee is to be happy and feel wanted in the organization. In a move to determine the different aspects in an organization, let’s look at the website of two different companies in the United States which offer employee welfare. Johnson & Johnson is a company that has been operating for years now and has a good name in the United States and even globally. The link to the company`s website is http://www.careers.jnj.com/employee-benefits . The company has employed thousands of workers and still believes that they are the key to the company`s success. From their website, it’s clear that the workers form a big part in the organization. To ensure committed employees, the company has an interface on their website referred to as ‘our employee benefits.’ The interface shows all the benefits an employee is entitled to when working in the company apart from the normal insurance covers by the organization (Johnson, n.p). They also have a place where the employee give testimonies of how the company has helped them which gives them the morale of being in the company and working at their best. There is another segment of the best company for women in 2018 which makes the female workers feel appreciated in the company and therefore give their best.
2- The first company I chose is Patagonia. This company produces high quality outdoors wear and prides itself on its employees. On the company’s website there is a section called Culture/Life, that references an article entitled ‘Let My People Go Surfing” by the founder Yvon Chouinard (Chouinard, 2018). In this writing it states how Patagonia searches for people who treat work as play and are treated as the ultimate customers for their products (Chouinard, 2018). They focus on hiring people who enjoy being outside and use networking between colleagues rather than job fairs for hiring employees (Chouinard, 2018). They do this to ensure that people are hired into the company that use the product and enjoy the outdoors (Chouinard, 2018). This creates a great sense of pride for the products being made as well as creates a much more positive work environment. The goal of Patagonia is to have an environment where employees enjoy coming to work and implement flexible schedules to encourage them to take off work to enjoy their outdoor hobbies (Chouinard, 2018).
The second company I chose is Bains & Company who actually focus on the improvement of culture in other companies. For a company to do that they must be a top place for people to work, themselves. It is Bains understanding that companies are 3.7 times more likely to be successful if they have a positive culture (Company, 2018). Bains focuses on hiring people that, in return, enjoy helping people (Company, 2018). This type of environment creates positive on all levels of the company and inspires top performance. They focus on hiring people that have specific skill sets in leadership, interviewing, diagnostics and other fields (Company, 2018). These people are allowed to specifically use their skills to help other companies and people with improving themselves (Company, 2018).
